Behold the fallen "underachievers!"
Earlier this morning, Singapore's "national team" lost to Croatia in the final group stages of the European Championship 2008 qualification rounds. They were just given two precious hours and a favor from Israel (win over Russia) to make it through and yet, they screwed it up. Perhaps Scott Carson, who was in Paul Robinson's place can't save no spectacular balls. Letting in 2 goals in 13 minutes? Hell that's worse than Tampines Rovers. I suppose many people are in anguish and I can guarantee you the New Paper will be filled with thousands of pages regarding the "shocking" loss, more than the local league's updates and overall summary. Seriously, not many here will give a damn of why Mirko Grabovac was sacked from the club. Not many here will give a damn on the "conspiracy" that Home United has consistently been scoring last minute goals. Not many will give a damn that country-vs-club commitments is not a big issue over here.
Oh well, that's life for you I suppose. I'll just have to hope that Tampines will win the domestic trophy this coming Sunday when they come across none other than....*sigh*, the Armed Forces. On a side note, many have already speculate Steve McClaren's head to be on the roll upon the exile of the Three Lions. With the not-too-long-ago departure of Jose Mourinho, many are opting the elegant and classy Portuguese to take the hot seat. That's the two opposite ends of McClaren and McLaren. On the tracks, the Mercedes Benz FO 108T has brought success after success to McLaren whereas on the sidelines of the pitch, injuries after injuries brought defeats after defeats to McClaren. Call it bad luck charm, he's just plain unlucky. I have my sympathies on the latter and I believe he should consider taking over Birmingham City. Cry out "England!" like how the people cry out "China!", cry out "McClaren Sucks!", part of the blame can be credited to the players too. Too much to elaborate on, I can't be bothered. To sum up the whole damn thing, Singapore's "national team" lost to Croatia, Singapore's local team lost a Croatian.
