Fall Out Boy - Live In SingaporeDate: 10 February 2009Location: Singapore Indoor StadiumIt was their second outing in Singapore and this time, they brought fellow labelmate Hey Monday along as the powerpop-quintet served as an opening act. In my opinion, the band was only mediocre at best. The vocal performance of Cassadee Pope (lead vox for Hey Monday) was inconsistent as she was not able to reach certain pitches at some parts. But there's certainly something that was commendable and it was the showmanship of having a great deal of energy on stage. Considered they are a young band (10 months old), it was necessary to pull that off and because of that, I rest my case.
Fall Out Boy came about 10 to 15 minutes after Hey Monday finished their set and comparing their performance 2 years ago, they matured (abit) in terms of stage presence but definitely still as tight as before. They started off with "Thnks Fr Th Mmrs", something which they didn't perform 2 years back. They also performed songs from their latest album "Folie A Deux", most notably "I Don't Care", "Headfirst Slide Into Cooperstown On A Bad Bet" and their latest single, "America's Suitehearts". Lastly, they finished off the set with "Dance, Dance" and "Saturday", something to take note for as they did the same during their first outing in Singapore.
I'm glad I did not mosh, as the entire free-standing area was mainly filled with kids who were born in the early to mid 1990s. As for not participating in what is considered my "forte", my friends said I was on "duty". But I'm sure as glad that I did not mosh and the "duty" was what I should do. Overall, it was not a stellar performance, but a rather satisfying one.
I've got troubled thoughts And self esteem to match, What a catch, What a catch.
